where "public" is the folder where you store your files and of course "file_name" is the name of the file you uploaded

All of the above I guess. You see I uploaded some files to my webhost server through FileZilla. I uploaded the files I wanted to share online to a folder called, "public_html" and that's where I uploaded my filesharing script as well. I got my filesharing scripte directly from this website. sibsoft(dot)net/xfilesharing_free(dot)html

So I have all the files I want in the public_html folder the thing is I don't know how to make the files available on my webstite? How do I reference the files on my website so that other people can download them? How do I provide download links on my website so that people can download the files I want to share with them?

This problem is usually due to ownership of the files.

e.g. sometimes a PHP application will install a module and create some files on the server. On some servers the owner of these files is the PHP application so you won't be able to modify them via FTP (different user). You need to change owner of these files usually done via the control panel or log a job with your provider.

I am looking for a way to setup FTP from a server in once city to a server in another city but have folders setup that I can just drop data into a pre-configured folder on one end and the software automatically sends the data to a pre-configured folder on the server in another city. I cannot seem to find enough information on any of the FTP software, or maybe do not understand enough of the terminology to know which one is capable of performing this task. Could anyone provide some useful suggestions, please?

Hi there,

I'm hoping someone can help me. I need to transfer some video files from an Express Card to my laptop, but I don't have an Express Card slot. I've seen USB-Express Card adapters online. Firstly, would these work to transfer files from the Express Card to my laptop via USB? And secondly, how slow would this be? Because I'm aware USB 2.0 is much slower than Express Card transfers, but how much slower?

If that was in the past, then what about now? I almost installed FTP server software, but just went back to using TeamViewer. I'm the only one who need an account with software running and it works well. I can drag and drop if the client runs the temp software. Thank you much for the reply, but I still wonder what about now. Is there a way to do it now without FTP server software installed? I don't mind attending the transfer. I just believe that FTP is often faster than other work-around methods such as TeamViewer.

Hi,

We are trying to connect to FTP server powered by XFB gateway. We have a client program that keep polling to this server for files. The program work fine with other FTP servers without any problem.

we will login to the server when the client program tries to poll in and get the files and some process will happen.

We can see some 100 login are successful and could see we get the error once in a while and the client is not able to connect until some time (may be 10 mts)
Error occured while FTP login : Not logged in The host is xxx.yyy.in The port used is 6370

This is not happening with any other FT server.

Following is our ftp stat
ftp> stat Connected to server. No proxy connection. Mode: stream; Type: ascii; Form: non-print; Structure: file Verbose: on; Bell: off; Prompting: on; Globbing: on Store unique: off; Receive unique: off Case: off; CR stripping: on Ntrans: off Nmap: off Hash mark printing: off; Use of PORT cmds: on Tick counter printing: off

We are able to connect to the FTP server thru FTP client software without any problem.

But through our client program we get this error often only to that FTP server powered by XFB gateway.

Is it like the FTP server accepts only some connections at a time, if yes how will I set that max time/ session/connections in the server powered by the XFB gateway?

Please help as am struck with this.

I bought 12.3, and missed the opportunity to get or understand help. I think my option for help has expired. One thing I want to be able to do in my lifetime is FTP files to or from a friend's computer. I have a few FTP storage sites and know enough how to use this software. However I apparently just can't understand how to use it to simply transfer files to or from a friend's computer. Is it possible for anyone to explain this to me? Pretend I am a moron. I'm tired of uploading files for someone to download, I just want to transfer the file directly to them. I see the WS-FTP LE 12 available. This interests me and I can convince friends to install it. Sorry to ask here for such help, but I have worn out my eyeballs in the last 5 years trying to get this figured out. Please understand I apparently can't figure this out from years of trying, so if you can instruct me the simpler the better.

I am connecting to an FTP site using a batch file to download files.
I have done this before with other sites without a problem, but when I use the batch file on this site it doesn’t download the files. There isn’t an error it just continues.
When I type the same commands in a command prompt manually the files download correctly.
Any clue to why this might be happening?

Below are the commands I’m using.

First file:
ftp –s:filename.bat ftpsite.com

Second file (filename.bat)
UserName
Password
cd to download directory
cd to sub directory
cd to sub directory
prompt n

I need some help to automate a process, I have WS FTP Server where users in the company need to share files with people from outside. What I need is that when a user uploads a file to a client it a) Automatically creates a temporary access to that file and b) Sends an email with that information to the client for download through the FTP.

Is this possible?

below is an excerpt from another post answer....it may or may not give you the information you need but, I thought that it may point you in the right direction....

MDTM stands for Month, Day and Time Marking. If the ftp server does not support this, an error message gets reported back to WS_FTP. There is no need for concern, your files will transfer correctly. There will be a timestamp from the server on the files.

If you select Preserve file time on transfer..., WS_FTP Pro will always preserve the date on downloads. However, it will only attempt to preserve the date and time on uploads, because many FTP sites do not support this feature.

If the preservation of file date and time is not supported by the FTP site, you will get an "MTDM" error when you upload files to the site. Note, however, that the files will transfer correctly with updated timestamps from the FTP site. (The "MTDM" error is not serious, even though it displays in red.)

If the MDTM command is not supported by the server, then you will not be able to use the synchronization utility successfully. If the date and time stamp on the files are not preserved, then the files will always be recognized as new files in the synchronization utility.

Greetings,

There is an option in Program Options > Browser Integration > Preserve file times. However, this only works downloading files. Is there an option to preserve the files times when uploading files?

I'm using WS_FTP 12.3 LE.

start > control panel > hardware and sound > change system sound > then scroll to the WS-FTP sound section and make any changes there.
