I've been a fan of Blackberry for some time - since I got my Pearl 8100 a couple years back under Cingular. Remember them? Yeah. Well - times change - and the Pearl is simply outdated. It has trouble running new apps, with a lack of memory and slow processor.

So I go to an ATT store an upgrade - everyone raves about their iPhones, and now that its price was down under $100, how could I resist? Well - the iPhone is NOT for me, I discovered over the course of a month. I wrote up all my.. thoughts.. very roughly on a blog. You can check that out at http://www.duckfatfries.com .

If the great iPhone isn't the phone for me, what am I supposed to do? Is there any greater technology out there? Well I sampled some newer Blackberry devices.. and they beat the pants off of my 8100 - the BB Tour 9630 and Curve 8900 especially, are terrific devices.

I went to a Verizon store last night in fact, to get a new Tour.. however I realized before I left that my ATT contract is a mess - they apparently never cancelled my iPhone contract despite the fact that I returned the phone. Umm.. thanks ATT. I can't even get voicemail setup on my old phone again because of it! A big mess.

What's really driving me extra crazy.. if I stay with ATT and get the Curve 8900, it is an EDGE only device. If I go to VZW for the Tour, it has 3G but lacks Wifi.

Meanwhile, newer Blackberry devices coming out later this year will have both 3G AND Wifi.. aaah!!!

What's hotter than the Mobile Device market right now? Not much, really. Something new pops up every hour about stuff like new hardware, carrier battles, iPhone "hotness", apps apps apps, new Blackberry releases, Android, and ole Windows Mobile - there's always something exciting going on. Its hard to keep track of it all! Here's a good place to start, though.
