G'day, Hoping someone here can help.

My administrator moved me to a new(recycled) desktop and since then whenever I try to connect to an ftp site I can't actually see any folders. It just says 'empty directory' I can create a new folder but it dissappears immediatly.

I know it's a local problem as I can login from other pcs without a hitch. The administrator doesn't actually know what the problem is and works off site.

Anyone ever seen this before? It has me totally perplexed and need to get on with stuff obv.

Tried passive and active modes. No changes to IP so firewall isn't the issue

Tried several different clients

fire ftp shows folders but nothing within the folders
filezilla portable shows folders but nothiing within folders (shows public html etc)
Commander shows no folders
Free ftp manager shows no folders
ws shows no folders

Hi!,

I am using a program(c#) I found to download a file from the CTC. It uses an ftpclient and uses ftp methods to transfer the file to my PC.

When I download the file manually, it is saved as an exe file. I then can open it up and it prompts me for a password. When I save it manually, it has an icon associated with it: 'pgp'. I can download the file with the program, but when I try to open it up after it's saved to my PC, it just opens up a dos window ( windows xp os) and then closes.
I think it is because I downloaded it incorrectly. I download it as a binary file but I don't know what else I should do. Can somebody tell me what things I might look for to fix this?

thanks a lot

from the Ipswitch Knowledge Base page...

The error "530 user access denied" indicates that you are not properly
logged on to the server. Make sure the information on the Host Info dialog
of site properties is correct. Common problems are spaces, case sensitive entries, or incorrect user name or password. If you are unsure whether or
not you are using the correct user name and password, contact the FTP
site administrator.

I get this error when trying to ftp into my site (new site and domain). I've tried several different ftp clients. I have two domains hosted at the same place, same info, I am able to ftp into one and not the other, go figure? I even changed my password just in case. My host can't figure it out. Contacted my isp, they don't have any limit to ftp attempts, they can't figure it out either. My partner is on a different pc, same network, he can't ftp either. I had other people outside of my isp try and they can login. I can ftp into other sites through the same ftp client. I've tripled checked all my preferences and settings. No passive or anonymous ftp is checked. I don't use Windows firewall. I disconnected my firewall, virus protection and router and hard wired my pc to internet, and still no ftp connection to this one site.
