Digital Photos - Storage
(6 posts)-
There's no question that I take more photos now with a digital camera than I ever did with film -- plus, camera resolutions are steadily increasing file sizes for each photo. I remember when my first 2 Megapixel digital camera took pictures at 500K max, and that was a huge file. Now, my Canon Rebel is pushing 2 megabits each photo. I've resorted to a couple external hard drives to store the high res originals and use Kodak Gallery to share with friends. What other methods are people using?

You know, thats funny, I probably take more pictures with my digital camera too, the thing is I probably do not look at the pictures as often now as with the developed film photos....I always had a photo album near by in the livingroom and every now and then would take a gander at them for a good laugh....now, to get up to go to the PC insert the cd or whatever and view them, I just do not do that as often...wonder why that is , maybe it is the age thing and I am still not in the now....

I used to take a ton of film - and now its much worse with digital :P .. however most of my film stuff ended up in a big box, never put into albums. My digitals.. are much more convenient. While I have thousands, I currently keep them on a 400GB external drive (eSATA).
I also use a premium photohost, Smugmug.com - where I can keep the high res photos. I count Smug as my 'backup' solution since I could always get my originals back from them. They are also worlds better than the 'free' hosts as far as usability, service, and features.
And since we're talking about photos around lunctime..
