I want to create a FTP hotfolder. I will direct files to the folder and they will be ftp'd to a specific folder. I also want to send email alert of the uploaded files delivery.

You can click the heading below(a link) to reach the Knowledge base article that deals with some of this issue....

    E-mail Notifications Overview
E-mail Notifications are e-mail messages sent when a file transfer matches the criteria you have specified. To use e-mail notifications, you must have access to an SMTP e-mail server.

E-mail notifications are triggered by one of the following events:

    Upload succeeds

    Upload fails

    Download succeeds

    Download fails

    Either upload or download succeeds

    Either upload or download fails

You can configure multiple e-mail notifications to match more complex patterns. For example, you can set notifications to notify on successful uploads and failed downloads with two separate notifications.

To configure e-mail notifications, select Tools > Options > E-mail Notifications.

Basically, you should do the following. First, you should connect to remote ftp server. Using Compare Suite you should choose folder comparison mode and then go to File-Open from FTP. Make sure you have all ftp server details like its address, username, password, path, port etc. You can check connectivity to server before you perform the comparison. You will have the right side of the panel for the folder on your local drive to be compared.

Compare Suite will then suggest which files are the same and which of them have differences. It will indicate newer and older files. This will give you an opportunity to select files to be updated on your ftp server. In such a way you do not have to copy the entire directory which size may exceed tens of gigabytes.

Webmaster would certainly appreciate such function of Compare Suite. Can you imagine how much time you can save with this solution? Moreover, you can then choose Synchronize folders option. Compare Suite will automatically replace older files with newer ones. Besides, you can set synchronization options and open files for manual synchronization.

    regards,

File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a standard network protocol used to exchange and manipulate files over a TCP/IP-based network, such as the Internet. FTP is built on a client-server architecture and utilizes separate control and data connections between the client and server applications. FTP is used with user-based password authentication or with anonymous user access

Applications were originally interactive command-line tools with a standardized command syntax, but graphical user interfaces have been developed for all desktop operating systems in use today. The original specification of the File Transfer Protocol was published as RFC 114 on 16 April 1971 and later replaced by RFC 765 (June 1980) and RFC 959 (October 1985)(Clark, 2003, p.416), the current specification. Several proposed standards amend RFC 959, for example RFC 2228 (June 1997) proposes security extensions and RFC 2428 (September 1998) adds support for IPv6 and defines a new type of passive mode.
