   I have been using WSFTP-LE 6.0 the free version forever. Suddenly I can no longer Edit! The file opens up in Notepad as usual and I edit my stuff and save it as I always do. But when I reopen the file my changes are not saved! Also when I move the file to the Local System side I can no longer view it as I get an error message stating cannot find file! What has changed with this programme? Why am I no longer able to use it?

   Every now and then I also still use WS FTP LE 6, it is currently installed on my Windows Vista Laptop and works to perfection.

   When I do an "edit" I have both the left(Local) and right(Remote) sides open. I highlight/click the file to "edit" on the "Local" side, it opens in "Notepad", I make the change, close Notepad/Save file, then I upload to the "Remote" side.

   If you try editing from the "Remote" side it actually downloads a copy of the file in a "Temp Folder" on your PC so, when you "edit" it you are not changeing the file on the "Remote" side but, the one in the "Temp Folder".

   You need to download the file you want to "edit" to the "Local" side, make the changes then upload it to the "Remote" side.

   I have just used my [b]WSFTP LE 6[/b] to try it out, it worked fine so, I would suggest you look at something that may have changed on you PC rather than the WS-FTP LE program itself since you say that you have used it for a long time with no issue.

   If all else fails you could try uninstalling the WSFTP LE 6 program and then download/install it again.

   They say that WS-FTP LE program is not compatible to the newer versions of Windows

   but, like I said, I have it installed on my Vista now, used it with my XP for many years and it works to perfection. I love its simplicity and thats what got me into WS FTP in the first place.
