Here’s a nice tip from the Polysyncronism blog about the advanced encryption capabilities of the WS_FTP Professional secure file transfer client.
“A while ago I had someone tell me about a FTP client program that supports OpenPGP for uploads and downloads. The cool thing about it is that it does the encryption and automatically selects the correct PGP key for each FTP destination. Incoming files of course use your own matching private key and they are automatically decrypted upon receipt…. If you are looking for a nice FTP program and you also need to worry about PGP encrypting the files, then WS_FTP Pro is worth getting.”
Most people are aware that WS_FTP Professional provides 256-bit AES transport encryption over SSL and SSH protocols. But as the blogger at Polysyncronism.com points out, WS_FTP Pro also includes the unique ability encrypt individual files with PGP file encryption. If encrypting files is an added-layer of security that interests you, then that capability alone justifies the cost of WS_FTP Professional as some plain PGP clients cost well over $100…. and a single license of WS_FTP Pro costs about half that amount.
